NEW YORK—After sold-out shows around the world this past season, Shen Yun Performing Arts is back this fall with an extraordinary new musical experience.

The company’s Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra presents a performance combining the exquisite beauty of Chinese melodies with the grandeur of the Western symphony orchestra.

Alongside classical Western instruments like brass, woodwinds, and strings, it blends in traditional Chinese instruments such as the two-stringed erhu, the plucked pipa, and ancient percussion. Its program features all-original music from the world-famous Shen Yun production, masterpieces by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, instrumental soloists, and Shen Yun’s celebrated singers.

BACKGROUND

The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is part of Shen Yun Performing Arts, the classical Chinese dance and music company, based in New York. Shen Yun’s music combines both Chinese and Western instruments. Its all-original compositions draws upon China’s five millennia of civilization—with its array of dynasties and peoples from which to find inspiration—breathing new life into themes and musical styles from ancient times.

Sharing the same mission as Shen Yun Performing Arts, the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra seeks through its concerts to recover lost traditions, nourish positive values, revive a 5,000-year-old culture, and bring beauty and hope to the world.
